Scottsdale Farmer’s Market

This weekend I will be attending Scottsdale’s Farmer Market. I have been there before but not in a very long time. The Scottsdale’s Farmer Market is located at the parking lot on Brown and 1st Ave. (Old Town). The hours are between 8:00AM – 1:00PM. Starting June 1st they will run from 7:00AM – 11:00AM to hopefully avoid some of the heat.

A Scottsdale Beach Club in Old Town Scottsdale?

Recently, Scottsdale City Council has allowed the proposed “Scottsdale Beach Club” to start moving forward. Yes. A beach club in Arizona. The council officially approved the application on Tuesday after some debate.

According to AZCentral.com, “The council approved applications to rezone two strips of land within the site from parking to commercial use, and to abandon a public alley right-of-way to remove one of two alleys on the site.”

The plans for the Scottsdale beach club boast an indoor/outdoor pool, a separate building with restaurant and bar space, and some vacant leasing space for other businesses down the road.

I personally love the idea. Old Town Scottsdale has a reputation of being innovative, fun, and “the place to be” here in Arizona. I think this Scottsdale Beach Club falls right in line with that.

My Favorite Scottsdale Condo Complex

I grew up in Scottsdale so I have seen most of it. One of my all time favorite condo complexes is Optima Camelview. They have lush green plant life, multiple levels with spectacular views, and an energy that is one of a kind. I have sold a few condos in this building and the buyer’s are always pleased and excited.

Scottsdale: Getting Hot

It is that time of the year again. We all are wishing we soaked up more cold weather. The sun is out and letting us know the summer is right around the corner. Scottsdale, AZ is about to be hot, hot, hot. The snowbirds are about to leave.

The real questions is, will the market stay this fired up into the summer? (The real estate market has been insane as of late for those of you who don’t know.) There is a possibility this seller’s market will continue over the summer months but there is a chance it will also die off. No one likes the hundred degree weather but people also need homes to live in.

I guess only time will tell.

Scottsdale Public Library: Actually Very Inviting

This past weekend I had something happen to me that is kind of rare. A day off. So on my personal day I decided to wander over to the Scottsdale Public Library near Old Town Scottsdale (Officially Named: Civic Center Library). To my surprise, the library is actually pretty sweet.

I’m not 100% sure what I was expecting. Flashbacks of being 9 and having to copy encyclopedias for future school projects flooded my brain as I pulled into the parking lot. When I walked in, a breath of fresh air hit me. I was shocked. The place was clean. The scenery was beautiful. It was quiet but still pretty busy. Most of all, the atmosphere was just calm. I really enjoyed myself.

For those of you who have never been to a library, you can actually take books home FOR FREE. What I didn’t know was they have magazines, movies, books on CDs and the Scottsdale Library will soon have a Cafe and coffee shop (once renovations are done).

I highly recommend the Civic Center Library if you’re looking for something to do in Scottsdale. Take an hour, browse their selection, and even consider bringing the kids. They do have to be quiet after all.

Coyotes In Scottsdale: BEWARE

It’s no secret that not too long ago, Phoenix was just a desert. Today, that can become solidified as a reality when you run into some WILD life running around Scottsdale. That’s right. There have plenty of coyote sightings in the Scottsdale area. I’m not just talking about one coyote but packs of them running around Scottsdale. So, be careful.

Here are some tips to protect your home and pets:

If you see Coyotes running around your neighborhood, it might be a good idea to keep your small dog inside and watch them when they go out.
Large dogs usually can protect themselves. Unfortunately, packs of coyotes can gang up and surround larger animals.
You will usually tend to see Coyotes more in the winter.
They like your trash!
Coyotes are scared of people unless you get them into a corner.

Echo Coffee: One Of My New Favorites

For those of you who don’t already know, I am a coffee nut. Every morning, afternoon, and sometimes even night I need my caffeine fix. It’s a problem (at least that’s what they tell me). Luckily for me, I live in a city (Scottsdale) that just happens to be chuck full of places to get my cup of joe.

Every once and awhile I find a coffee shop gem. Echo Coffee (http://www.echocoffee.com/) is one of those Scottsdale gems.

This place is great.

Echo Coffee is larger than your normal coffee shop. It allows you to have time for yourself if you’re working but also, even if the place is busy you can always find a spot to sit down.
The tables are large! Everyone who has attempted to work at a coffee shop knows this can be a big frustration. Trying to balance a laptop and notebook on a 1.5′ table just doesn’t work. This won’t be a problem at Echo.
Great Coffee. Sometimes, you can even smell it roasting in the shop.
Friendly Staff. They always greet you when you walk in and bring your coffee to you with a smile.

There are more than 4 great things about Echo Coffee but I am going to let you find those out on your own. Please go give them a visit. They are located on the Northwest Corner of 68th Street & Thomas.

Phoenix Open To Allow Cell Phones

That is right everyone. It is that time of the year again where everyone gets excited about golf and the Phoenix Open. The TPC course in Scottsdale has had it’s flurry of visitors and golfers alike. One thing that just happens to be different this year is a recent rule change in regard to cell phones.

Yes, you read the title right. This year they are allowing cell phones at the Phoenix Open (this has never happened before). Obviously, the rule change comes with a few stipulations.

Your phone must be silent at all times (even if there is loud music or noise).
You cannot take pictures near the ropes or golfers.
Absolutely no video can be taken.
There will be seven “call zones” set up where you can make those emergency business calls.

Just an FYI, there are a couple THOUSAND volunteers patrolling the Scottsdale event. One warning will be given for breaking the rules. After that, you could potentially be kicked out!
